Connecting your domain and going live
How we point your domain at the new site, what to expect on launch day, and why DNS sometimes takes a few hours.
How we point your domain at the new site, what to expect on launch day, and why DNS sometimes takes a few hours.
Going live means pointing your domain name (like yourbusiness.com.au) at the server where your new site lives. We handle the technical side — here’s what happens.
If your domain is registered or managed through us, going live is straightforward: we update the records on our side, install the free SSL certificate, and your site is live, usually within minutes to a couple of hours.
If you registered your domain with another provider (GoDaddy, Crazy Domains, Netregistry, etc.), we’ll either:
Either way, we’ll give you the exact values to enter, or do it for you if you share access. You keep ownership of the domain throughout.
DNS changes don’t flip instantly worldwide. Internet providers and browsers cache the old records for a period set by the domain’s TTL, so some people may see the new site within minutes while others take a few hours. The technical maximum is up to 48 hours, but it’s usually much faster. This part is outside anyone’s direct control — it’s just how the internet’s address book updates.
If anything looks off after launch, give DNS a couple of hours, then open a ticket and we’ll check it.
We can just do this for you — it's what our plans are for. Already a client? It's covered by your monthly update hours.
