SEO basics for your new website

What we set up for search out of the box, what genuinely moves the needle, and what to ignore.

Published 5 min read

Good SEO isn’t a magic trick — it’s a fast, well-structured site with content that actually answers what people search for. Here’s what we handle and what helps from your side.

What we set up as standard

  • Clean, fast pages. Site speed and mobile-friendliness are real ranking factors, and they’re built into how we work.
  • Proper page structure. One clear heading per page, sensible sub-headings, and descriptive page titles and meta descriptions.
  • HTTPS everywhere via a free SSL certificate — see SSL, backups and keeping your site safe.
  • A sitemap and search-engine-readable markup so Google can find and understand every page.

What actually moves the needle (your part)

We’re honest about this: the biggest lever is usually content, and you know your business best.

  • Write for real questions. A page titled “Emergency plumber, Gold Coast” will out-rank “Welcome to our website” every time.
  • One page per topic or service. It gives Google something specific to rank.
  • Keep it current. A site that gets updated (your monthly hours are perfect for this) signals an active, trustworthy business.
  • Get listed. A free Google Business Profile often does more for a local business than months of on-site tweaks.

What to ignore

  • Anyone promising “#1 on Google in a week” or “1,000 backlinks for $50.” It doesn’t work and can get your site penalised.
  • Stuffing keywords until copy reads like a robot wrote it. Google is well past that, and so are your customers.

We set the foundations honestly and won’t sell you guaranteed rankings nobody can actually promise. Want a deeper hand with content and search? Talk to us about it.
