Do I own my website? (Yes)
What you own, what 'lifetime free hosting' means while you subscribe, and what happens if you ever leave.
What you own, what 'lifetime free hosting' means while you subscribe, and what happens if you ever leave.
Short answer: the website is yours. Your site is custom-built for you — the files are yours, not locked inside a closed platform you can never leave.
Your plan includes lifetime free hosting and maintenance for as long as you’re subscribed. That’s a genuine saving — hosting and ongoing maintenance would otherwise be separate monthly costs — bundled into your design plan.
It does mean the free hosting is tied to your active subscription. If you cancel, the design care plan and the bundled hosting end. But the site itself is yours: we can hand over your website files (and, for store sites, the database) so you can take it elsewhere.
Open a ticket and ask for a full export. We’ll provide your site files (and the database for store sites). We’d obviously rather keep you happy than see you go — but we don’t hold your site hostage, and there’s no “you can never get your data” trap.
Questions about what’s included or what happens at cancellation? See our terms and conditions or just ask us.
We can just do this for you — it's what our plans are for. Already a client? It's covered by your monthly update hours.
Short answer: almost certainly yes. Here's why a website still beats social-media-only — even for a tiny local business.
A Facebook page is rented land; a website is property you own. Most businesses need both — here's how they actually work together.
